Nodeling

Desk monitor

A creature that keeps the Wi-Fi honest.

Nodeling sits on the desk and times the internet every second. The buddy on the round screen plays while the link is steady. A day of one-second samples, and a week of minutes, stay on the device.

The buddy and the ring move together

The axolotl plays the pose that matches the checks. Glad and green when the link holds. Uneasy and orange when it flickers. Sad and red when it fails.

Steady

Both latency checks answered. The happy loop keeps playing.

Uneasy

One check failed, or an outage is still open. The buddy looks worried.

Down

Both latency checks failed. The buddy sinks.

The same hour, in the cloud

Sample of the portal. Latency is milliseconds. Loss is the percent of checks that failed. The outage is both TCP targets down, stamped when the link returned.

Playful on the glass. Precise underneath.

Three buddies live on the screen. Behind the animation, Nodeling times the link and writes down every outage.

Three buddies, one watch

The axolotl, the floppy, and the slime take turns on the glass. They blink, hop, and squish, and you pick who sits on the desk. The green ring around them is the link, steady at 18 ms in the picture above.

Outages and flaky connections

An outage is marked when both internet checks fail, and it closes as soon as one answers. Minutes that lost checks stay in the history, so a link that comes and goes is visible too.

24hours

One-second data

A day of one-second samples stays on the device.

7days

One-minute data

A week of one-minute data stays on the device for the longer view.

Free cloud portal

Watch the same monitor from a browser, away from the desk. The portal is free. The on-device history remains either way.

Coming later

An app to set it up. A library that stays free.

Not in this release. The phone app will join the Wi-Fi, set the brightness, and choose who is on the glass. A second screen will show the latency charts away from the desk. Every Nodeling in the library stays free.
